Prep
for Life
( Confirmation Program )
Confirmation/Prep for Life begins
the exciting, lifetime spiritual journey of discovering who a
person is in relation to his/herpersonal faith, to the church
family and to the greater Christian community. All students in
9th Grade or above are warmly invited to embark on this journey
with us! During the course of our time together, the students
will prepare to affirm the baptismal vows taken on their behalf
by their parents when they were small children. This will be their
opportunity to make the Christian faith "their own".
Our large and small group gatherings are an opportunity for students
to engage in a process of faith formation with one another and
with committed and caring adults, as they learn, question and
grow as disciples of Jesus Christ.
Confirmation Goals
To help students understand what it means to be
a disciple of Jesus Christ.
To help students build a personal relationship with God.
To insure they understand the baptismal vows taken on their behalf
and help them discern if they are ready to make these vows for
themselves.
We also hope that as a result of the confirmation
experience in their high school years:
They will value and appreciate the Bible as a
guide for daily living and inspiration for their lives as well
as feel comfortable reading it on their own.
They will appreciate the power of prayer and worship and make
these Christian practices an important part of their lives.
They will acquire a more definitive, active sense of social justice.
They will begin to understand and appreciate the parables shared
by Jesus and recorded in the Gospels.
We hope to instill in them a desire to continue to learn and grow
in their faith.
They will come to know the influence of their faith in the lives
of ordinary people who have experienced extraordinary transformation.
They will come to see the face of God in everyday life.
They will learn how God has uniquely shaped them for ministry.
